Calculating IV Flow Rates
Program Description
Intravenous fluids, whether for hydration or administration of medications, must be carefully titrated to infuse at the correct flow rate. This program gives student nurses practice with determining the correct flow rates based upon several differing drop factors. The drill and practice is based upon the equation
Volume / 60 minutes X Drop Factor = Number of drops per minute
